What is Big Give?
Big Give is a platform that connects charities with pledgers who can match fund public donations for specific Big Give campaigns.
It gives charities an additional funding stream, offers free online training and can connect you with pledgers - although you will still need to find your own pledgers and make sure you have secured your match funding before your campaign starts.
In a nutshell, it gives your fundraising team a clear proposal to present to potential donors - corporate and individuals - aiming to kick start a longterm relationship where these high value pledgers commit to supporting your Big Give campaigns on a regular basis.

What is match funding?
Match funding works by getting pledgers to commit to donating a set amount if you hit a particular fundraising target. This allows you to do run a campaign that promises to double every donation made in a particular timeframe - usually a week.
So for example, if you are able to secure £10k in pledged funding, you can run a campaign that aims to raise £10k in public donations. If you hit your target you get the full £20K and all your public donators can feel great knowing their donation was doubled and it allowed you to unlock this extra pledged funding.
How do I find pledgers?
When you sign up to Big Give you can access their network of partners and pledgers, however, it mostly comes down to your team being able to convert loyal donators into pledgers. The reason this works well for charities is it offers a clear initiative that shows your loyal supporters how their pledge will in turn create double the funding for that cause. It’s a feel good proposal that promises to make their money go further.
A good place to start is contacting anyone who has made a large donation in the past. You can then contact corporate teams that might have a connection to your cause and may want to support you as a business. It’s a great opportunity for your funding team to think outside the box and approach supporters with a new way of helping to support your charity.
